RE: wireless Home Network in RV

I have now studied the user’s guides for these products. Both the Linksys WGA54AG and the Buffalo Wireless-G MIMO Performance Ethernet Converter are products that appear to be able to create a bridge between an RV park’s WiFi network and an in-house network inside an RV.Isn't this one of the features the DD-WRT project?

RE: Dead Dometic

I think he may have a board issue. Both fuses are good and the spark relay fires at about 1sec intervals, but nothing else. The LEDs on the front panel are flashing in unison with the spark relay: On, the selected cold setting, and occasionally the system check LED will get into the mix. The RV guy in Venture has a 911 number so I think he's calling now.. :(

RE: Dead Dometic

Going after the fuse now, he just found an owners (not service) manual. Stand-by.. :)

Dead Dometic

I have a neighbor camper that just pulled up with a 6mo old Dometic 2602/2802 Refrigerator in a 20 year old Airstream. The fridge has flat stopped working both on Gas and AC. There is +12 going into the unit, but that's where my expertise on this model stops. Any ideas out there? If nothing else he's down the road from several RV service facilities, but nothing on a Sunday. Thanks, Jeff

RE: Direct TV Spot Beam Update

There are other "Spot Beam" satellites other than 7S. 101 has several transponders that are on spot beam antennas as well, but also contains several CONUS transponders for the Discoveries, History Channels, and Networks as well. A spot beam is each individual circle you see on these maps. This is DirecTV's "101" Satellite:http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/SCVJeff/DirecTVSpotChannels.jpg

RE: Direct TV Spot Beam Update

That, plus DirecTV does not have unlimited bandwidth to include every station in every market that may want DirecTV to carry them in HD. Ain't gonna happen.

RE: wireless Home Network in RV

What the OP is asking about is a WiFi LAN within the coach, to connect to local CG WiFi networks as they move around, not broadband cards. About a year ago on this forum there was a really good write up on doing this, but it's not necessarily easy, and you need to understand IP infrastructure fairly well to pull it off (unless he's updated his post).

RE: Clarification on HD Radio channels plzzz

Digital television and so-called HD Radio are two completely different things. As far as a Dish DVR, unless they have something I haven't seen, that is yet another completely different thing. Satellite is not the same as "over the air" television, that is not the same as the FM Broadcast band.

RE: Tell me about dogs and California beaches...

Also you may want to consider Rincon Beach. ...... You can have campfires, and you can have dogs......Nice sunsets and lots of space for the dog to run and play.Campfires are illegal anywhere at Rincon Parkway as are dogs off leash on the beach (and BTW, that's the ONLY place for them to play). I have never seen anyone written up for either but that doesn't change the posted rules.

RE: Digital Converter Coupons

Thanks, and I'm amazed at the variety of responses over this. "Use a different address"....Not sure what this means,It means don't use the forwarding address that you used because it won't work. It's one of the little details that slipped into the cracks and is so insignificant it probably won't get fixed. If your kids want theirs ask them to ask their friends. Someone HAS to be on cable and doesn't need theirs.

RE: Sprint broadband WiMax/Xohm

They're still paying off the $5Bil 2GHz band move, and now, apparently up for sale. I wonder who is going to finance this?

RE: Porch lights vs. scare lights ?

The scare Light Is a Bug Light...That's why all of mine have amber lamps.

RE: Porch lights vs. scare lights ?

I have both on the right side of the coach. The standard porch light is OK for navigation and little else. So I added a Scare Light several feet away, and the way it's lensed, sprays about equal light as the patio light down below, but throws a considerable amount out about 20' or so. I also added a dimmer to the scare light in case I want to mellow it out, so that worked out well. See Pic

RE: Antenna modification for DTV

HERE is the nationwide Analog, plus Pre- & Post- DTV assignments. While there may be one or two that won't be where shown here, this is what will be.

RE: Antenna modification for DTV

I saw a bowtie arrangement in Quartzsite last year that clamps onto the batwing mast and collapses with it just fine (a little shorter than the one above). There's no reason you cannot mix the two antennas with a band-splitter up on the mast as long as the VHF tap is DC passive to feed the pre-amp in the wing. I have been playing with the Batwing up against a Winegard Square Shooter antenna that was developed awhile back with super high F/B radio to try and keep the UHF multi-path under control, and the batwing performs just as good, it just doesn't have the same rejection off the rear of the antenna. I too think I would not do anything until you know what kind of trouble you're going to be in.
